El 16 de enero de 1957 el empresario Alan Sytner abri\u00f3 sus puertas como un local de jazz. Pero pronto se convertir\u00eda en lugar de reuni\u00f3n de aficionados al skiffle (una combinaci\u00f3n de blues, country y folk brit\u00e1nico), con los Quarrymen (el antecedente de los Beatles, fundado por Lennon) como una de las primeras bandas en subir a su escenario.
